Halfway To The Moon

James Downham’s first original studio recording since 1999’s Scream EP. Halfway to the Moon is ostensibly a children’s song about taking a trip to outer space, but it’s so catchy it’s guaranteed to get stuck in any fun-loving adult’s head for weeks! Sorry, no refunds!

“Halfway To The Moon” (Downham)

I’m going away on a little vacation
I’ve booked a room on the next space station
Don’t kiss me goodbye, just kiss me farewell
We’ll meet again; I’ll have stories to tell

Of floating through the cosmos
In between the stars
Sipping from the milky way
But I won’t go too far…

I’m going halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
Halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
I’ll get halfway there, then I’ll run out of underwear
And then I’m coming home

I’m hitching a ride on a shooting star
I’m bringing my map so I can see where we are
Now I’m packing my bag, and I’m bringing a snack
Gotta leave some room so I can bring something back

Like a buckle for your asteroid belt
Or an alien from Mars
A nightlight that I’ll make myself
From the twinkle in the stars

I’m going halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
Halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
I’ll get halfway there, then I’ll run out of underwear
And then I’m coming home
But what if I like it there so much that I never ever wanna come home?
Or what if the whole thing really sucks, I’d wish I never ever left my room?
I guess I won’t try and push my luck, so I’ll just make this trip short and sweet.
You know that I’d miss you way too much – so I’ll be back soon

I’m going half-way to the moon – I’ll be back soon
Halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
I’ll get halfway there, then I’ll run out of underwear
And then I’m coming home
I’m going half-way to the moon – I’ll be back soon
Halfway to the moon – I’ll be back soon
I’ll get halfway there, then I’ll run out of underwear
And then I’m coming home
And then I’m coming home.
