Confirmed: James Downham to perform first single “Don’t Talk To Girls” at The SHOT Season 3 Grand Finale
We just got the confirmation that we’ve been waiting for – we’ll be playing our first single, “Don’t Talk to Girls” at the Grand Finale of The Shot Season 3.
This is really exciting and brings these crazy last 6 months full circle – right where it all began. The Shot Season 2 really catapulted my career and everything that has happened since then (the CD, the band, singing the national anthem in front of tens of thousands of people, the music video that is in production, and more!) I can link back to my participation in the Shot.
I’m looking forward to seeing some friendly and familiar faces in the crowd, and to making some new fans! I’ll be sure to post ticket information when it becomes available. The Grand Finale is a great event for the whole family, and will feature some amazing local talent! Hope to see you there!
Today, Indie Week Canada 2015 announced that James Downham has been selected to perform in an artist showcase of emerging indie bands. A couple of additional local groups will be participating in this years festival, including Waterloo’s Amberwood and Cambridge’s Tanya Marie Harris. The date and location of the show will be announced soon, and updates will be posted here!
Yesterday, I headed back to the studio to lay vocal tracks for two new songs, “Don’t Talk to Girls” and “Fly Away.” I was joined by James Downham Guitarist/Keyboardist, Mark Smith, and Producer Peter Boshart. “Don’t Talk to Girls” is the subject of our upcoming
video Produced by Esteemedia and was debuted at Big Music Fest 2015. We played “Fly Away” at Cambridge Ribfest earlier in August and decided that was the next song to be recorded. We’re getting closer to finishing “Don’t Talk To Girls.” Just need to get Emmanuel Brown’s harmony vocals in the mix. “Fly Away” still needs some Alan Dyck guitar magic before we can call it complete!
The James Downham band will take the stage again today at the annual Cambridge Rotary Ribfest at Riverside Park, just off King Street East in Preston. The band performs at 4pm on the main stage. Come early and catch the SHOT Season 2 & 3 Judge, Juneyt Yetkiner, at 3pm! And don’t forget to stay for the ribs. Award-winning robbers will be serving up delicious meat-snacks, and there are fun activities for the kids. Hope to see you there!
Great news! This Friday’s Breaking Bands finals will be live-streamed on Orchard at www.orchardtv.com/breakingbands.
Even if you can’t be there in person, you can still see us on the big stage and cheer us on!! It’s free to watch the stream.
Once on the page, you can vote for your favourite band (Hint: JAMES DOWNHAM!) through the online poll and follow the conversation with the official hashtag #bmfbreakingbands.
Bands start at 2:30pm
James Downham is up at 5:30pm
Final 3 will play again at 7:30 just before Big Sugar takes the stage
Of course, if you can make it out to Kitchener’s McLennan Park in person, that’s even better! Admission is free, and it’s all ages. Bring the kids, bring your parents, bring the whole neighbourhood! Cath us, and stick around for Big Sugar – it’s gonna be epic!!
The new self-titled debut EP is out today! Support local and independent music! You can buy it on iTunes, or right here on the James Downham website. Purchase individual tracks, or the full EP in our secure, Store. When you select the CD + Digital Download option, we’ll mail out your physical CD, but you can download the digital files right away, so you don’t have to wait to enjoy the songs!
The James Downham band has been added to the line-up of Big Music Fest’s Breaking Bands competition! The free show on Friday, July 10th features Big Sugar, along with 20 up-and-coming bands from across Ontario competing to see who might be the next big thing!
The winner of the competition will open for the headliner act in next year’s event, will win a fully produced music video from our friend’s at Esteemedia (they’re producing our music video for “Don’t Talk to Girls” as part of the prize package from The SHOT Season 2), music mentoring, and a host of other great prizes. In addition, the winner will be the feature of a documentary film chronicling their 1-year journey from Breaking Bands 2015 to Big Music Fest 2016! Last year’s winners, The Modern Hearts, perform on Saturday July 11th along with Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction, Extreme, Monster Truck, The Glorious Sons, and the Mohrs.
Clearly this is a HUGE opportunity for the band, with an expected crowd of 10-15,000 people for the Friday show. We’re very excited!! We hope to see lots of familiar, supportive faces in the crowd!
